The Mak family started direct equity investment in the 1960s. 66 years later, we continue with the tradition of balancing risk vs return, under the strict guidance of our family office charter. We act solely as Principals.
Securities & Hedge Funds
The Mak family's involvement in Hong Kong's financial markets dates back several decades, having held one of the territory's earliest securities licences (Licence No. 9). The associated securities business was sold to a prominent Hong Kong family in 1973.
In the 1980s, the family expanded its investment activities into investment funds, laying the foundation for its diversified financial investment portfolio today.
Real Estate
The Mak Family Office has over 100 years of experience in direct real estate development and management. We have been one of the earliest builders in Hongkong.
Venture Capital
Our venture capital investment history dates back to 1985, when the Mak family made its first investment in Acco Plastics, an injection moulding company.. From this initial investment, the business grew to employ over 300 employees before a successful exit. Since then, the family has continued to invest in a diverse range of ventures across industries and markets, building on four decades of experience in venture capital.
Private Equity
While Private Equity is not our main area of focus, we have engaged in a dozen of private equity transactions over the past 30 years. Our first PE investment was made to a company which made polymer doors for GM's SATURN.
